Your First Class and What to Expect
Never done Jiu Jitsu? Not sure what to expect at Grind? We’re here to help!

Here at Grind we ensure a stress free training environment for everyone from the brand new beginner to the seasoned competitor. Below are some helpful tips for your first visit to make you feel right at home!
-
Shorts and Tshirt are great first day attire. Eventually you will need a Gi (uniform), but we have one you can borrow while you try out the class. If you can wear tight fitting clothing you’ll look like a pro.
-
Wear compression shorts/underwear. Females should wear a sports bra. It helps keep everything where it belongs and out of view.
-
Bring a water bottle. Jiu Jitsu is a sport and you’re going to sweat, we do not have drinking fountains on site.
-
Flip Flops or Slides are the ideal footwear. You’ll be barefoot on the mats and these will just make it easier for you to transition back into the real world.
-
Make sure you are clean and your fingernails are clipped. Nobody likes to train with the smelly guy and fingernails can cause injuries.
-
Bring the waiver with you, especially if you are under 18, it will need your guardians signature. Link below.
